Let’s Encourage Each Other
On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, I attended a wonderful 9/11 Commencement
Ceremony presented by The Power Of One Foundation and hosted by actor Jack Scalia. This was an amazing event held in The Hangar at The OC Fairgrounds.
The remembrance event had so much for us all to reflect on. I remember exactly where I was on 9/11 and the horrible feeling that stayed with me for days, weeks and months.
The one happy memory of that time was how all of us in the country were united together. Shawnee Witt, Co Founder and Vice Chair of Power of One Foundation, said it best in a portion of her poem, Never Forget, that she wrote for the event:
“We rallied together
Built each other up
Let each other know that we are enough
Let this be the lesson learned that day
Twenty years ago
And may we never fall astray
Let that unity be here to stay”
Volunteer Network OC shares Shawnee’s philosophy. Together we can do so much to help. We believe a community that cares about one another, takes time to help one another, and has compassion for the plight of others, is a stronger, healthier community. We strive to make Orange County a better community by encouraging people to get involved.
